Cathodic Protection (Advance Course)

AMPP India Chapter organized a two-day In-house educational training program on "Cathodic Protection (Advance Course)" from 18 - 19 April 2024 at MCPI Private Ltd., Haldia, West Bengal.

The training program started with a welcome address by Ms. Supti Bhattacharya, GM Training, MCPI. The Manager of Technical Services, AMPP India Chapter, Mr. Rishikesh Mishra, welcomed all participants, introduced the faculty and also briefed them about the activities of AMPP such as Individual & Corporate membership, certification courses, educational training programs and the annual technical event on corrosion conference (CorCon). AMPP India Chapter provides an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and information on corrosion problems and solutions through educational training programs. AMPP protects infrastructure and assets worldwide through member and workforce education and credentialing, company accreditation, technological innovation, and global standardization.

Mr. Anshul Jain, Head – CP and Interference, Dehn India Pvt Ltd was the instructor for the training program. He has experience on cathodic protection projects involving design, installation and commissioning as well as field surveys, root cause analysis and revamping for various structures including buried pipelines, above-ground storage tanks, underground storage vessels, jetty piles, atmospherically exposed concrete structures, buried piles and plant piping along with AC/DC interference study and mitigation enriched the participants.

The training was conducted in three modes of learning including classroom, practical demonstration of concepts and understanding one's system in the field. Participants engaged through interactive sessions of questions and answers.

The following topics were covered in the training:

    • Fundamentals of Cathodic Protection Systems
    • Cathodic Protection System Criteria
    • Understanding Cathodic Protection Concepts with classroom demonstration
    • Cathodic Protection for Pipeline
    • Live Cathodic Protection reading and Measurement on the site
    • AC and DC Interference

The training program received excellent feedback & high appreciation from all participants for the onsite live practical organized and explained.  The program coordinator Mr. Rishikesh Mishra delivered the vote of thanks.
