Cathodic Protection Systems - Pipeline Operation & Maintenance

AMPP India Chapter organized an educational training program on “Cathodic Protection Systems - Pipeline Operation & Maintenance” on 18 & 19 March 2024 at Hotel Rodas, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai. Twenty-five (25) participants attended (Oil India, IOCL, BPCL, CPCL, ONGC, RIL, REP, ERCS, GIL, GMR, Jef Techno, Pollen, SRC, etc.). The educational training programs provide an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and information on matters concerning corrosion problems and solutions.

 The training program started with a welcome to all the dignitaries & participants by Mr. Manoj Mishra, Manager-Admin, AMPP India Chapter.

Mr. Denzil D’Costa, Treasurer of AMPP India Chapter inaugurated the training program and his welcome address emphasized the importance of corrosion mitigation by cathodic protection systems in the oil & gas industry and indicated that the training program would enhance the effectiveness of pipeline operation and maintenance.

The faculty members for this training program were Mr. K B Singh, Past Chairman, Dr. Anand Kumar Tewari, Chairman of AMPP India Chapter and Mr. Anshul Jain, Certified CP3.

The participants gained both theoretical and practical aspects through the lectures, followed by an interactive session of questions and answers on the following topics.

• Overview of Cathodic Protection System for Cross-Country Pipelines,
• Corrosion Challenges for External and Internal Corrosion of Pipeline,
• Design Aspects and Features of Cathodic Protection Systems,
• Operation and Maintenance of CP system for Cross Country Pipelines,
• Reference Standards & Specifications for Cathodic Protection System of Pipeline,
• Understanding Cathodic Protection Concepts,
• AC/DC Interference: Study & Mitigation,
• Monitoring of CP System/ Cathodic Protection Test / Measurements / Surveys
• Case Studies

The training program (lectures with classroom demonstration) ended with receiving excellent feedback from participants. Certificates and t-shirts were distributed to all the participants.
