Fundamentals of Coating & Lining, India

AMPP India Chapter organized an educational training program on “Fundamentals of Coating & Lining” on 20 & 21 February 2024 at IOCL Pipelines Head Office, Noida. Twenty (20) officers from the Pipeline Division of Indian Oil Corporation attended the training program.

The training program started with a welcome to all the dignitaries & participants by Mr. Paresh Sinha, CM (L&D), PLHO. It was inaugurated by Mr. Manish Botke, Executive Director (Operations), PLHO, IOCL. His welcome address emphasized the importance of corrosion mitigation and indicated that the Fundamental Coating and Lining training programme would enhance the effectiveness of maintenance & inspection activities in corrosion control. The faculty members for this program were Mr. Denzil D’Costa, Certified (CIP-1 & 2 and PCS-2), Mr. Jayant S Sawant, Certified CIP-1 & FROSIO-3, and Mr. Edwin Abraham, Certified FROSIO-3 and the program coordinator was Mr. Manoj Mishra, Manager-Admin, AMPP India.

Mr. Denzil Dcosta highlighted various aspects of Fundamentals of Coating & Lining and informed that this training program was specially made for proper understanding of the technical aspects of the surface preparation and protective coatings system application on a variety of structures for the industries. The program would benefit the Inspection Engineers, Quality Control (QA/QC Personnel), Operation and Maintenance personnel. It is designed to give the participant a path in continuous professional development in coatings. 

The AMPP India Chapter was represented by Mr. Manoj Mishra, the Manager Admin. He briefed the participants about AMPP & the AMPP India Chapter, the benefits of certification, courses & educational training programs and some upcoming events. Participants were explained about the benefits of being an AMPP member and contributing towards voluntary work. 

The participants gained both theoretical and practical aspects through the lectures followed by an interactive session of questions & answers and an exam on the following topics:

  • Special lectures:- Pipeline Coatings (Internal & External) and Field Joint Coatings
                                - Protective Coating for Storage Tanks and Mounded Bullets

The training program received excellent feedback from participants. Mr. Manoj Mishra distributed the AMPP India Chapter’s T-shirt to dignitaries and all participants. The certificate of attendance was also given to all participants. Mr. Paresh Sinha delivered the vote of thanks during the valedictory session.
