A technical talk session with the title "Preventive Maintenance" by Mr. Dylan Lee Chee Kiang, from Jotun was held at the Grand Dorset, Kuala Lumpur on 10th March 2023. Mr. Dylan Lee has more than 25 years of experience in Marine and Protective Coatings.
The presentation fostered the best practices implementation in every coating execution work, from surface preparation and coating application to inventory management, highlighting the important aspect of integrity and safety. The one-hour technical session also managed to captivate the crowd with a new technology introduction known as "Covallox", a revolutionary to solvent-free epoxy world. In principle, this engineered-coating enables covalent bonding between coating and substrate, providing ten (10) times improvement in adhesion against typical hydrogen bonding of epoxy coating, offering corrosion protection up to 30 years of design life. In addition, this "green" technology also advocates the global initiative towards reducing carbon footprint, with its claim to be zero Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions. As garnered by questions from the attendees, we look forward to more positive sharing from the industry on the experience using “Covallox” coating in near future.
