Training Program on ICCP system

AMPP India Chapter organized a 2-day All India Advanced course on “ICCP System for Tanks & Critical Pipelines” on the 6th & 7th May 2024. Officers from Regional M&I and Project Site Engineering attended the training program.

Mr. S Dhanapandian, ED I/C (RS), SRO, in his inaugural address, shared the importance of maintenance of our assets and improvements in monitoring, inspection and maintenance of these assets using advanced techniques. He shared the importance of the hands-on experience of M&I officers.

Mr. M. Annadurai, ED & SH, TNSO, in his keynote address, shared the importance of critical pipelines in the marketing division for ensuring economical, safe, and environmentally friendly operations. He also stressed the preventive maintenance of assets.

Mr. M. Sudhakar, ED (RS) SRO, in his address spoke about safety and security responsibilities associated with maintenance of critical pipelines. He highlighted the knowledge impartment to all M&I officers of locations.

Mr. Joydeep Mazumdar, CGM (M&I), HO, highlighted the importance of the ICCP system in providing secondary protection against corrosion and eventually having the capability to enhance the life of the asset. He urged the participants to understand the maintenance & monitoring of the ICCP systems so that the capability of the system is fully harnessed.

Mr. G V Hyma Rao, CGM (M&I), SRO, welcomed the dignitaries and participants for the 2-day advanced training. He also gave a brief about the training conducted for the M&I dept.

Mr. Pankaj Panchal, Director at Corrosion Protection Specialist Pvt. Ltd. was the instructor for the training program. He worked at Abdulla Foaud Impalloy Ltd. Co., Saudi Arabia as General Manager (UAE) and Engineering Manager from 2001 to 2016. Before that, he worked in India from 1993 to 2000 at India in the cathodic protection industry. Mr. Pankaj Panchal is an Electrical Engineer. He has more than 29 years of experience in Corrosion Assessment, Cathodic Protection and Corrosion Control systems.

The training program included classroom and practical demonstration of concepts. Participants engaged through interactive sessions of questions and answers.

The following topics were covered in the training:

  • Fundamentals of Cathodic Protection Systems
  • Cathodic Protection System Criteria
  • Understanding Cathodic Protection Concepts with classroom demonstration
  • Live Cathodic Protection reading and Measurement on the site
  • AC and DC Interference
  • ICCP for pipelines and tanks

The training program received excellent feedback & high appreciation from the IOCL management.  The program coordinator Mr. Rishikesh Mishra delivered the vote of thanks.
