Empowering the Future: A Celebratory Salute to Female Pioneers and Innovators on International Women in Engineering Day! (might shorten title later.)
To recognize women who work in the engineering sector and encourage more women to take up engineering, AMPP will acknowledge International Women In Engineering Day (INWED) on June 23. First established in 2014 by the Women's Engineering Society, this day gained international recognition and participation, with numerous organizations, educational institutions, and engineering communities worldwide organizing events and activities to mark the occasion.
AMPP will recognize this important day to further its mission of “advancing materials performance to protect society, assets, and the environment.” With help from our international member community of remarkable women, AMPP will spotlight their incredible stories of achievement in a new social media campaign. By sharing their experiences and insights, AMPP aims to inspire the future generation of women in engineering and promote diversity and inclusivity within the field.

Member Motivations | An interview with Nicole Zafris, Technical Program Committee Member:
What motivated you to join a program committee?
“I thought it was a great way to give back, and I was lucky enough to have a wonderful mentor who was able to provide a lot of knowledge transfer. I felt like getting involved was the way to make sure that transfer of knowledge and information would continue.”
What do you enjoy/find most valuable about being on a program committee?
“The global networking aspect that I would not have previously been able to access; taking from that expertise is invaluable.”
If there are members or volunteers looking to get more involved with AMPP, what would you recommend to them?
“Definitely reach out to technical committees or anyone involved with standards to see if any roles need to be filled. It’s good to familiarize yourself with the AMPP website and online discussions, follow up if there is something you want to do or learn, ask around at the conference, and make it known you want to be involved.”
