AMPP Launches New "Chapter Takeover" Podcast Series in Spanish 

AMPP has launched a new six-part Spanish-language "Chapter Takeover" podcast series designed to strengthen connections across Latin America, elevate Spanish-speaking voices, and showcase the valuable work taking place throughout the AMPP chapter network.

Hosted by Jorge T. Reyna, the series features conversations with industry professionals on topics including corrosion inspection, nondestructive testing, mining, pipeline integrity, coatings, cathodic protection, and professional development.

Listen to the first episode, featuring Alonso Barron on the role of nondestructive testing in identifying leaks and corrosion in the oil and gas industry.

MPI 500 Series Standards Achieve Major UFGS Milestone 

MPI's industrial-focused 500 Series Standards have reached an important milestone with the inclusion of MPI 505 in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), the official construction and maintenance specifications used across U.S. Department of Defense facilities worldwide.

This marks the first inclusion of MPI's updated industrial-focused 500 Series Standards, helping establish performance-based coating requirements for critical fuel storage infrastructure. The addition reflects years of collaboration among MPI, industry stakeholders, and Department of Defense experts to support long-term asset protection and corrosion control.

Nominate a Corrosion Innovation for 2027 

Materials Performance (MP) magazine is now accepting nominations for the 2027 Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards through Oct. 15, 2026.

The biennial awards recognize innovative technologies, products, and solutions that are advancing corrosion prevention and mitigation. There is no cost to submit a nomination, and entries are welcome from individuals, companies, organizations, and government agencies worldwide.

Award recipients will be recognized during the 2027 AMPP Annual Conference + Expo in Columbus, Ohio.

Applications Open for the 2027 AMPP Ambassador Program

Applications are now open for the 2027 AMPP Ambassador Program through August 15, 2026.

AMPP Ambassadors help raise awareness of corrosion control, protective coatings, and materials protection by sharing AMPP resources, connecting professionals and students, and representing the association in their regions and on social media networks.

AMPP Expands Presence in India as GAIL Joins as Corporate Member

AMPP is continuing to strengthen its presence in India as the country's investment in energy infrastructure drives increased demand for corrosion control, asset integrity, coatings expertise, and workforce development.

The association recently welcomed GAIL (India) Limited as a Corporate Member, marking another milestone in AMPP's growing engagement across one of its fastest-growing markets. Today, AMPP serves more than 3,200 members throughout India and continues to expand its support through standards, certifications, training, chapter development, and technical collaboration.

AMPP Supports Global Research Initiative for Safer Shore Power

AMPP is supporting AEGIS (Advanced Protection for MaritimE Infrastructure and Globally SustaInable Shore Power), a five-year international research initiative led by the National Technical University of Athens and funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation. The project will examine corrosion and electrical safety challenges associated with shore power systems as ports work to reduce emissions through maritime electrification.

Through AEGIS, AMPP will contribute corrosion expertise, technical resources, industry engagement, and support for standards and workforce development activities. The project also brings together IMarEST and IEEE to advance research, practical protection strategies, and training for safer, more resilient port infrastructure.

Explore the Future of Maritime Corrosion Technology

AMPP will host the “Next-Generation Maritime Corrosion Technology” webcast on Tuesday, August 4, at 9:00 a.m. EDT (6:30 p.m. IST), bringing together global experts to examine how robotics, digitalization, smart coatings, advanced manufacturing, and data-driven asset management are transforming corrosion control across the maritime industry.
