How to Make Sponsors Feel Valued (Beyond Just Their Logo on a Slide)
June 9, 2026 •Lydia Prazak
Sponsorships play an important role in helping chapters provide valuable programming, networking opportunities, and professional development for members. Many chapters rely on sponsor support to host technical presentations, workshops, or social events throughout the year.
But here’s something that often gets overlooked: sponsorship isn’t just a financial transaction—it’s a relationship.
Most sponsors don’t support a chapter simply to have their logo displayed on a slide. They support chapters because they want to connect with professionals in the industry, build relationships, and demonstrate their commitment to the community.
When sponsors feel appreciated and visible, they’re far more likely to continue supporting your chapter year after year. And the good news is that making sponsors feel valued doesn’t require complicated marketing plans or expensive tools. Often, it’s the small, thoughtful gestures that make the biggest difference.
Here are a few simple ways chapter leaders can recognize sponsors and strengthen those relationships beyond just displaying a logo.
Start Recognition Before the Event
One easy way to show appreciation is to acknowledge sponsors before the event even begins.
A short social media post thanking the sponsor and highlighting their support helps give them early visibility while also reminding members that the event is made possible by industry partners.
For example, your chapter might post something like:
“A big thank you to ABC Coatings for sponsoring our upcoming corrosion prevention workshop. Their continued support helps make professional development opportunities like this possible for our members.”
Tagging the company in the post also helps increase their visibility within the professional community.
These small social media shoutouts show sponsors that your chapter values their partnership—not just their funding.
Recognize Sponsors During the Event
Events are a natural opportunity to highlight sponsors in meaningful ways.
A brief mention during opening remarks can go a long way. For example, when welcoming attendees, a chapter leader might say:
“We’d like to thank ABC Coatings for sponsoring tonight’s program. Their support helps us continue offering educational opportunities for our chapter members.”
This kind of recognition reminds attendees that sponsors play a role in supporting the professional development opportunities the chapter provides.
Another great opportunity is during speaker introductions. When introducing the evening’s speaker, you can naturally include sponsor recognition:
“Tonight’s presentation is made possible thanks to the support of ABC Coatings. We appreciate their continued commitment to our chapter.”
These moments of acknowledgment reinforce the sponsor’s role while also demonstrating professionalism and appreciation.
Highlight Sponsors in Post-Event Recaps
The recognition shouldn’t stop once the event ends.
Post-event recap posts—whether on LinkedIn, in a chapter newsletter, or on your website—are another great place to recognize sponsors.
For example:
“Thank you to everyone who joined us for our corrosion prevention workshop this week. We’d also like to thank ABC Coatings for sponsoring this event and supporting our chapter.”
These recap posts often receive strong engagement, especially when they include photos from the event. Including sponsors in those posts provides additional exposure while reinforcing the partnership.
Send a Personal Thank-You Message
While public recognition is important, personal appreciation matters just as much.
A simple thank-you email sent after the event can make a strong impression. It doesn’t need to be long or formal—just sincere.
For example:
“Thank you again for supporting our recent chapter workshop. We had a great turnout and received very positive feedback from attendees. Your sponsorship helped make the event possible, and we truly appreciate your continued support.”
If possible, include a few photos from the event or share attendance highlights. This helps sponsors see the impact of their support.
Personal messages help move the relationship beyond sponsorship and toward partnership.
Look for Small Opportunities to Show Appreciation
Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest difference.
For example, you might:
- Take a photo with the sponsor representative at the event and share it on social media.
- Tag sponsors in LinkedIn posts about the event.
- Invite a sponsor representative to briefly introduce themselves at the beginning of a meeting.
- Mention sponsors in your chapter newsletter or event recap.
These actions don’t require additional budgets or resources. They simply require intention.
And over time, they help sponsors feel connected to the chapter community rather than just appearing as a logo on a screen.
Think Beyond One Event
The most successful chapters treat sponsors as long-term partners rather than one-time contributors.
That means maintaining relationships between events as well.
For example, you might occasionally share chapter updates, invite sponsors to upcoming programs, or ask for their input on potential topics that would interest members.
When sponsors feel engaged and appreciated throughout the year, they’re much more likely to continue supporting the chapter in the future.
Appreciation Builds Long-Term Partnerships
Sponsors help chapters deliver valuable experiences for members. From technical education to networking opportunities, their support makes many of these programs possible.
When chapters make the effort to recognize and appreciate that support, it strengthens relationships and encourages sponsors to stay involved.
A logo on a slide is a good start—but thoughtful recognition before, during, and after events helps turn sponsorship into lasting partnership.
And those partnerships help chapters continue growing and serving their members for years to come.
